Ask the Director

Hey! Did you know that you SHOULD NOT cut or   color your hair when you are in a show? πŸ’‡β€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸ’‡πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸ½πŸ’‡πŸΌπŸ’‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ A trim is fine! But a MAJOR hair change must be approved by the director when you are in a show!!!!!!!  Can I trim my hair? Yes Can I add subtle highlights? Sure! Can I shave my head? NO!  Do you know why this is important? When you are given a role in a show the director probably  considered certain physical features you have when they selected you for your part. Sooo PLEASE no major changes without permission!! That doesn’t mean you can’t make any changes. Just check with your director first to make sure the changes still fit with your character. πŸ’‡β€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸ’‡πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ’‡πŸ½πŸ’‡πŸΌπŸ’‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Now some of you like the dad and the firemen, the Reverend and any of the boys that aren’t Herdmans please keep a nice tidy haircut . At least have a nice tidy haircut by the time we run our show!! And if you have questions just ask the Direct...

What does your character need?

Reminder about memorizing lines: 1. When we meet this week your lines should be memorized.   2. Now that they’re memorized practice saying them so that they sound natural, not robotic and NOT like you’re from Scotland…OR Ireland.  PLEASE START WORKING ON THE FOLLOWING Think about what your character needs to be your character. This includes: 1. What clothes does your character need to wear to look like your character? What your character wears needs to reflect who they are. IE. What Alice wears will be very different from what Imogene wears.  Your assignment is to make a plan for what your character will be wearing, write it out on a piece of paper or sketch it out and show me on Thursday.  Start gathering items of clothing you have at home that you can use. If there’s something you need but don’t have check with other Vanguard students. 2. What props does your character need? If you’re one of the gossipy ladies you need access to an old cell phone. Because you ladie...
