PART ONE

In a show it’s important that you know WHEN to speak and WHAT to say.

That’s why we mark our scripts.

Here is your assignment:

1. Get a couple of highlighters (colored pencils are fine, too) in different colors. DO NOT USE REGULAR OR PERMANENT MARKERS!! It will bleed and you’ll be 😢 😭  sad.

2. Mark all of the lines you say in one color. 

3. Use a different color and mark any lines AND stage directions that happen BEFORE you speak.

It’s also important to know WHEN to move, react, or do something.

During rehearsals I will be telling you things that you’re supposed to do. WRITE those things IN YOUR SCRIPT with a pencil. And practice, practice, practice!

If you do not have your own copy of the script, copy the pages you need from a sibling’s script and  mark that.

PART TWO 

Do you know how to memorize your lines?

First read your lines! A lot!!

 Do your best to say your lines without looking at the script. (you can read your cue but try not to look at your lines when you’re saying then.) Check your memorization by having a buddy or a sibling read your cues THEN you say your lines.

The cues are the stage directions or the words that are said before you say your lines.

Another tip for memorizing lines is ✍️ WRITE ✍️ out your cues and your lines. Write it over and over until you can do it without any mistakes.

Also practice your movements while you’re memorizing your lines. This will engage both sides of the brain and 🔐 lock it into your memory better! 

Go brain! 📣 

PART THREE

Although the show is not a musical there are songs in this play.

Songs that everyone will need to know.

The good news is they are all Christmas songs. 🎄 🎶 😁 

I’ll bet you already know a lot of them. 🙌🏻 

The other good news is you only need to know the FIRST VERSE of each song. 👏 👏 👏
